POSITION SUMMARY:
The expectation of this position is providing direct assistance and supervision of individuals being supported in a 24-Hour Supervised Residential setting. Support includes acquisition, retention, or improvement in skills related to activities of daily living, such as bed making, household chores, education, the preparation of food, therapeutic interventions for managing behavioral and emotional disorders and the social and adaptive skills necessary to enable the individual to reside in a non-institutional setting and become a valuable member of their community. Habilitation, training and instruction are coupled with elements of support, supervision and engaging participation in a therapeutic manner to reflect the natural flow of training, practice of skills, and other activities as they occur during the course of the person's day. This position will provide support to individuals, through Interactions that are designed to achieve outcomes identified on the person centered plan. Based on the individual served and the goals in their person centered plan, the level of needs may be either habilitation or therapeutic in nature.
This position is under the direct supervision of a Qualified Professional.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Proof of a minimum of a High School diploma or its equivalent, and the ability to read and
write proficiently in English.
2. Reliable transportation.
3. Current state driver's license.
4. Current automobile insurance and registration.
5. Current C P R card & Current First Aid certification. (Preferred)
6. Acknowledgement of no exposure to COVID, Hepatitis or TB.
7. Proof of at least six months MH/DD experience preferred.
8. Medication Administration Certification. (Preferred)
9. Proof of mandated state training in accordance with requirements of NCDHHS. (Preferred)
10. Satisfactory criminal background check and CAN Check, as defined by Nurturing Nest Residential Home Policy and Procedures.
11. Health Care registry check, sex offender registry check and other mandated state registries as defined by Nurturing Nest Residential Home Policy and Procedures
12. Acceptable motor vehicle driving record as defined by Nurturing Nest Residential Home Policy and Procedures.
CONFIDENTIAL DATA:
Complies with agency policies and procedures concerning confidentiality, including payroll, budgeting and HIPPA regulations involving all aspects of client information, which include day to day care of the residents, case records, family information, medical information, psychological services, etc which if disclosed, would have adverse internal and/or external effect, and could result in termination of employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
1. Provides training/assistance and supervision to assigned individuals with interpersonal skills and activities of daily living in accordance with the outcomes and goals in the individual's plan (PCP) and under the direct supervision of the Qualified Professional.
2. Address all outcomes and goals as outlined on the individual's PCP and/or BSP are performed.
3. No changes in care are initiated without direction from the Qualified Professional.
4. Any changes in status are reported to the Qualified Professional.
5. Documents care per Nurturing Nest Residential Home policies and procedures, evidenced by notes are completed, accurate and turned in on a timely basis, and in accordance with documentation policy guidelines.
6. When unable to complete an assignment for any reason, Nurturing Nest Residential Home Qualified Professional must be informed immediately. Changes in assignment due to consumer or family request must be verified. Nurturing Nest Residential Home must be aware of changes in assignment and reason for change. DSP/PP to confirm schedule weekly with Nurturing Nest Residential Home. Attend In-services and Multidisciplinary Team conferences as requested, verified by sign-in sheets.
7. Mandatory in-services are attended, verified by sign-in sheet.
8. Be familiar with the Company Handbook, Code of Conduct, Grievance procedure, Whistleblowers rights.
9. Be familiar and abide by Nurturing Nest Residential Home Policies/ Procedures and National Accreditation standards.

Must be able to lift or support approximately 75 lbs. either assisted or unassisted. Must be able to
stand for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours. Must be able to stoop, bend, and reach
overhead.

Needed for August 2025 - December 2025
Nurturing Nest Residential Home (NNRH) is seeking an intern this fall to help out at our level III residential mental health facility in Charlotte.
As an intern at Nurturing Nest Residential home, your daily responsibilities will include:
Assisting staff in providing support and care for residents, engaging clients in recreational activities, and helping facilitate therapeutic exercises.
Participating in daily check-ins, documentation of client progress, and maintaining a safe and clean living environment.
Observing and learning about individualized care plans, participating in team meetings, and supporting clients in developing life skills and building healthy relationships.
Collaboration with staff and adherence to confidentiality and safety protocols will be essential throughout your internship.
Requirements:
Must be a junior, senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree or in a post-graduate program at an accredited college or university.
Preferred degree in social work, psychology, sociology or any other related field.
Must be CPR certified
Must have a means of transportation to get to the internship site.
Valid Driver’s license preferred
