We are a NCAC 27G .1700 residential treatment staff secure facility for children or adolescents, which means that we are a free-standing residential facility that provides intensive, active therapeutic treatment and interventions within a system of care approach.
This means by North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, we serve children or adolescents who have a primary diagnosis of mental illness, emotional disturbance or substance-related disorders; and may also have co-occurring disorders including developmental disabilities.
The NNRH House provides a safe and supportive environment for youth who face significant mental and emotional health challenges that necessitate their placement outside of their home. In this supervised residential setting, we offer specialized care tailored to the unique needs of these young individuals. Our dedicated team of professionals delivers comprehensive support, including counseling, therapeutic interventions, and life skills training, fostering resilience and promoting emotional well-being.

There are many different ways to be referred. Residents are usually referred by a local management entity(LME), the department of social services (DSS), the department of juvenile justice(DJJ), or by a licensed therapist.

NNRH mostly serves girls diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder(ODD), attention-deficit/hyperactive disorder(ADHD), anxiety, depression and disruptive behavior disorder.
Yes, residents are allowed to have visitors as long as they are approved by NNRH faculty and the visitors have signed our visitor log with their full name and number.
*Under no circumstances are residents allowed to have overnight visitors.
Yes, residents are still allowed to drive if they have an approved and valid driver's license from the NCDMV and their own car. Residents who choose to drive their own vehicle will need to adhere to the NNRH policies and procedures.
